| Mindanao Food Firm Acquires HACCP Certification |
|
Isidro Ang, Vice President of Martsons Food Corporation in Davao City, holds up the HACCP Certificate awarded recently to his company by TUV-SUD, an internationally recognized quality management agency. Martsons was assisted in acquiring HACCP certification by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through its Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Program, which is implemented under the oversight of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA). With Mr. Ang are USAID Contracts Officer Sallie McElrath (far right), and USAID Development Assistance Specialist Maria Teresa Robielos (3rd from left). HACCP, a systematic, preventive approach to food safety and quality that limits potential physical, chemical and biological hazards in food production, is increasingly becoming a standard requirement for export markets.
