Farm-fresh vegetables and fruits are sold by local farmers every tabo (market) day at the Barangay Mahanub Trading Center in Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte.This infrastructure, which includes a communal toilet, was built through a partnership between the municipal government of Gigaquit and USAID’s Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Program. It is one of more than 1,200 community infrastructure projects built by GEM, which include water systems, solar dryers, boat landings, bridges, road upgrades—and more than 150 community/trading centers.
