Information and news about the USAID Growth with Equity in Mindanao III (GEM 3) Project

Residents in Sitio Seaside, Brgy. Poblacion, Talusan, Zamboanga Sibugay, can travel safely to markets and schools using this concrete footbridge built by USAID’s Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Program under its Barangay Infrastructure Project (BIP). For years, residents had to travel by boat or walk for almost a kilometer through a private road to the commercial center of Talusan. The new footbridge has shortened the route from the area to the town center, thus encouraging more economic activity in the community. It is among the more than 1,200 “BIPs” the GEM Program has completed in conflict-affected areas in Mindanao.
