Information and news about the USAID Growth with Equity in Mindanao III (GEM 3) Project

Residents of Sitio Guicam in Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay, look forward to better times with the help of a boat landing built by USAID’s Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Program. The facility, constructed  by GEM under its Barangay Infrastructure Project (BIP), has made the loading and unloading of passengers and cargo safer and more efficient, thus helping to boost trading and commercial activity in Guicam and neighboring coastal communities in this conflict-affected area. The GEM Program, in collaboration with municipal governments and under the oversight of the Mindanao Economic Development Council, will complete approximately 850 additional BIPs in the next four years.
